American Express Green Business Card 2022 Review

Oct 14, 2022 By Triston Martin

American Express's Business Green Rewards Card is a poor reward credit card. Small companies can benefit from the membership rewards earned by using this service for business travel. However, many alternative business credit cards provide greater earning potential, as American Express Travel Rewards only awards 2 points for every dollar spent, while all other transactions only award 1 point. Because there is no minimum purchase requirement, this Card may be handy for some company owners.

Advantages of Using an American Express Green Business Rewards Card

Benefiting from Gains

Two Membership Rewards points are awarded for dollar spent on qualifying purchases made at American Express Travel. After making $3,000 in purchases in the first three months of having an American Express Business Green Rewards Card*, you will get 15,000 Membership Rewards® points as a welcome incentive.

Making a Purchase and Receiving Points

The points earned with American Express Membership Rewards can be redeemed in several ways. However, the value you receive for your points varies greatly depending on your choice. Direct point redemption for travel may be done in two ways:

  • To get the most out of your points, exchange them for hotel stays and plane tickets with your trip companions. American Express has transfer partnerships with several airlines and hotels, with most transfers being at a 1:1 ratio and with frequent bonus incentives.
  • If you prefer a less complicated redemption option, you may use the Amex travel gateway to make reservations at a flat 1 cent per point.

Potential Payoffs

To understand the possible profits, we need to determine the annual costs of running a small firm. However, for the argument, let's pretend that our hypothetical small firm has a solitary proprietor and $107,908 in annual sales, of which $32,072 is appropriate for charging on a credit card.

An annual budget of $10,821 for food, transportation, and communication costs illustrates how much a small company owner may spend. Furthermore, we will presume that the company may allocate 4% of its yearly income to advertising. In this hypothetical scenario, the amount would translate to $4,316 in advertising costs.

Alternative Perks of the Amex Business Green Rewards Card

Rental Car Loss and Damage Protection:

The rental vehicle company's optional insurance isn't worth the hassle, so don't buy it. (Card benefits and eligibility requirements vary. Restriction and Restrictions Apply

When an Eligible Person charges the full price of a Common Carrier Vehicle ticket to an eligible Account, the passenger's Baggage Insurance Plan coverage will be in effect for lost, damaged, or stolen baggage while in transit on the Common Carrier. Over and above what the Common Carrier provides, you may get up to $1,250 in coverage for your carry-on and up to $500 in coverage for your checked bags.

Worldwide Helpline:

Travelling farther than one hundred miles from home requires emergency help and coordination services (does not cover the cost of services arranged). Each Card has a unique set of benefits and eligibility requirements. Restrictions and Restrictions Apply.

Do The Benefits Justify The Effort?

Amex Membership Rewards points are among the most valuable in the industry because of the flexibility with which they may be used and the quality of the issuer's transfer partners. Transferring your points to American Express's transfer partners is the best use of your points.

Compared to the 2.1 cents per point we estimate the average Membership Rewards point to be worth when transferred to the correct partner, the most you can earn when redeeming through American Express's redemption gateway is 1 cent per point toward airfare or an upgrade to your trip itinerary.

The AmEx rewards calculator shows that your mileage may vary greatly depending on how you choose to cash in your benefits. When you use your points to book non-air travel (including hotels, cruises, and car rentals) through participating online vendors, the value of each point drops to between 0.5 cents and 0.7 cents.

Costs And Charges

The $95 annual fee with the Amex Green Rewards Card for Business normally isn't charged for the first year you have the Card. Such a deal is increasingly unusual. It provides you with a substantial amount of time to evaluate whether or not you're getting your money's worth from your current Card and, if not, to make the necessary changes.

There is no interest rate to worry about, as the balance is expected to be paid off every month. If you take advantage of the Pay Over Time option to carry debt, however, you will be subject to a variable annual percentage rate of 16.49% to 24.49%.

If you miss a payment on your regular, due-in-full amount, you'll be charged more than $39 and 2.99% of the outstanding balance.
